10 things you need to do for your winter hair care!

The chill in the air is back and you are getting ready to get all your woollen clothes out from storage. The pantry is getting restocked with dry fruits and all those things that you will be needing for the winters to nourish your body from within. You have even picked up large bottles of thick moisturisers, because you know that your skin is going to get super dry due to the cold breeze.

But what about your hair care in winter? Have you paid any thought to that?

Well, when your skincare routine is changing during the winters, shouldn’t your hair care too?

Here are 10 things you can do, this winter seasons to ensure that your hair looks just as great, as it does the rest of the year:

  1. Wash less – Yes, you heard us right! You need to wash your hair lesser times that you usually do. So, if you are in the habit of washing your hair, every alternate day, push it by at least 2 days – wash your hair only twice a week or when your hair starts to feel really dirty. Every time you wash your hair, you are stripping away the natural oils of your scalp, making them weak and brittle.
  2. Say no to hot – We know it feels great to stand under a hot shower during those cold winter days, but have you ever noticed that you use super-hot water to wash those truly greasy pots and pans in the kitchen too? Hot water is very effective in removing oil, which is what it will do to your hair and scalp too! So, one of the easiest winter hair care tips to follow is to wash your hair with lukewarm water, no matter how cold it is outside.
  3. Products in play – While there are some products that can continue in your hair care routine, there are some that you might need to replace. For instance, you might want to invest a more hydrating shampoo, because it can help combat dryness and keep your hair looking lustrous and healthy. You also need to make sure that you invest in a good leave-in conditioner or we suggest that you use our Moonlight Scalp Serum, every night to ensure a better scalp microbiome!
  4. Champi – Yup, champi is for literally every season and during the winters, it needs to become a must have! Warm a little bit of our Champi hair oil, and gently massage it into your scalp and hair and allow the powerful ingredients to penetrate deep into the scalp to ensure complete nourishment. By oiling your hair, you are not only providing an extra layer of hydration to your hair, but the massaging of your scalp improves the blood circulation, helping improve hair growth.
  5. Ban the styling tools – Well, you don’t have to ban them completely, but it would be best that you keep your styling tools, especially those that are heat based, for occasions when you really need them. Heat based tools will cause much damage to your hair, particularly during the winters, when they are already fragile.
  6. Protect your hair – The most basic hair care tips for winter are to ensure that you protect your hair – this means, do not step out when your hair is still wet. When you do step out, use loose hats or scarves to ensure that your hair is covered and protected from the winter chill. The cold dry air is not good for your hair and you need to ensure maximum protection for them.
  7. Get that trim – Most hair experts will tell you to get a trim every 3 months, but during the winter months, you might want to consider a shorter interval. Try to make it to the salon every 6 to 8 weeks and get your hair checked; if you are noticing split ends, getting a trim might be the best way to protect your hair.
  8. Home remedies anyone – There are plenty of winter hair care routine home remedies that you can try out – from DIY hair masks to covering your hair with a hot towel post oiling, there are plenty of such tips and tricks that your mommies and grand-mommies will have; so just ask!
  9. Eat right – What you put in your body will have an effect on how it looks and feels and the same goes for your hair too. Eating right, that means, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, is one of the easiest winter hair care methods. And given that its winters, there are so many fruits to choose from and a great time to try out all those veggie soup recipes too!
  10. Drink up – There is no replacing water – while you do need hydration from the outside, your body needs hydration from the inside too and water is the easiest way to do it. Agreed, that you might not feel as thirsty during the winters, but make the effort to drink at least 8 glasses of water, each day.
